I haven’t thought football in quite some time. The offseason is so painfully long that it’s hard to get excited about anything that goes on. I don’t really care much about the draft because you never really know who’s going to be good in the NFL. This offseason was bigger than some in the recent past, with the moving of Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, the return of Randy Moss, and a couple of pretty big college prospects in Andy Luck, Robbie Griffin III, and even Trent Richardson.
I was excited to see the Packers pick up some defensive players, especially someone to hopefully play opposite Clay Matthews, to hopefully take some of the pressure off him and let him get the quarterback a little more. I was also watching some of the Wisconsin players go, as usual, not too high, but get drafted nonetheless. I was surprised to see that Kellen Moore didn’t get drafted, although he got snagged shortly after the draft and went to the Lions.
So, after watching the 49ers plow through the regular season last year, and then with the additions they’ve gotten in the offseason, Brandon Jacobs, Randy Moss, rookie LaMichael James, I’d have to say they’re the favorites for Super Bowl champs this season. I think they’re going to be ridiculously good this year. Scary good. Depending on one little factor. Ol’ Alex Smith. He will be the deciding component in that equation. Can he stay healthy? Can he perform at the level he did last year? Their defense is solid. They added a #1 receiver in Randy Moss, even if he is a little old, it’s still Randy freakin’ Moss. They’ve already got Frank Gore, and now they added some depth to the running back position to take some of the pressure off him. Their defense was incredibly stout last year. This is going to be an all-around team to reckon with. Count on it.
I’m excited for the season to get started. I’m sick of the long offseason, it’s the worst time of the year! Speaking of which, what do you think about the possible suspension of the Pro Bowl? I’m all for it, I think the Pro Bowl is stupid. While they’re at it, they need to get rid of 3 of the 4 preseason games and turn them into regular season games. Preseason is virtually worthless, too. Let me know what you think, leave a comment below.

Good morning Vesta, I agree with you Randy Moss was a great rieecver who at times allowed his ego and off the field antics ditract away from his excellent play on the field. He was explosive and a force to be reconded with while with the Vikings, and when he teamed up with Tom Brady and New England his talent was showcased for all to see Good Blog..
